These are classic Russian birch trees. They're pretty much a symbol of Russian nature. We went to see the Tretyakovsky Gallery in Moscow and there were all these famous Russian landscape painters like Levitan and Shishkin.... they all painted birch trees a lot.
Basically, I drew this because... I GOT A SET OF GOACHE PAINTS!!! ^___________^ In Moscow, of course! Goache is so great, it's like a mix of watercolor and acrylic, it's totally wonderful!! This is my first painting with goache.
Who inspired me? Dmitri Hvorostovsky!!! The GOLDEN baritone of our age!! ^____^ His newest CD is called "Light Through the Birches". I was listening to it while I was painting!
